Power & Free Conveyors
Power and free conveyors are a special adaptation of the overhead trolley conveyor and the free line conveyor. The carrier may be routed automatically through switches to many different spur lines or transferred onto other power and free conveyors.
Overhead Power & Free Conveyors
Overhead conveyor in which the product is suspended from a carrier that can engage the conveyor chain for normal travel or disengage the chain to stop the carrier for a specified period of time. (more)
Inverted Power & Free Conveyors
Typically a floor based conveyor in which the product is carried above a carrier that can engage the conveyor chain for normal travel or disengage the chain to stop the carrier for a specified period of time. (more)
Power & Free Applications
The applications for power and free conveyors include warehouse distribution centers; automotive, truck, and construction equipment plants; steel mills; foundries; appliance manufacturers; boat builders; and copper tube mills.
Southern Systems manufactures various power and free conveyors, handling live loads from 25 lbs. to 20,000 lbs. The systems vary from a light-duty enclosed track design to 6” ship channel for the free rails.
While much of the power and free system is standardized, each power and free conveyor is engineered for a particular application. In virtually all instances power and free is installed on a turn-key basis to assure proper functioning of the design concepts. The entire SSI organization is committed to building the most efficient and reliable power and free conveyor systems in the industry.
