OpTrac® Optical Product Tracking

Southern Systems’ control engineers developed and patented OpTrac®, the original Optical Code Reading System.

Designed and built by conveyor engineers for conveyor systems environments, the SSI OpTrac® system utilizes the principle of multiple head optic readers with LED photo cells. The results are several key benefits:

Accuracy

With the large holes on the code plate, the overall mechanical relationship has a wide tolerance for repeat accuracy.

There is a large gap read capability on the LED’s which gives them the power to read up to a distance of ten feet.

Reliability

Guaranteed reliability rate of less than nine errors per one million reads.

Since this system’s electrical design is an isolated system from the rest of any control hardware requirements, it can be completely assembled at the SSI facilities for thorough testing prior to shipment to the field.

The code plate is virtually indestructible and unaffected by temperature, liquids, or gases.

OpTrac® is able to withstand paint build-up and extreme temperatures.

The system has no moving or intersecting parts requiring close tolerance.

Accountability

With the multiple head approach on the LED reads, forward and back surging motion of any conveyor does not affect the input read.

The OpTrac® code plate can be oriented in practically any position and on various types of carriers, floor carts, etc.

OpTrac® can interface directly with keypad stations and is compatible with PC’s for unlimited inventory control with no decoder required.
