Flat Top & Slat Conveyors
Continuous moving or indexing, flush with the floor or at working height, SSI Flat Top and Slat Conveyors are ideal for conveying and/or assembling large heavy products, such as automobiles, heavy trucks, earth moving equipment, steel coils, commercial air conditioners, snowmobiles, ATV's, motorcycles, or for the assembly of engines, brakes, axles, transmissions, compressors or other components.
SSI can provide Flat Top and Slat Conveyors from a few inches up to 16 feet wide, and with chain pitches from 2 inches up to 2 feet. A wide range of stationary or adjustable fixtures can be mounted to the slats to hold and locate the products.
Type “W” Slat Conveyors
When a steady work surface and smooth flow of the conveyor is required, the SSI Type "W" is an ideal conveyor. An optional feature of this conveyor is the adaptation of standard roller conveyor beds to the carrying surface of the conveyor, greatly increasing load capacity of the Slat Conveyor, while minimizing frictional losses.
The SSI Type "W" Slat Conveyor can be initially installed and the roller bed added at a subsequent date as loads increase and/or the conveyor length increases while maintaining the original drive unit.
Utility Slat Conveyor
SSI Standard Roller Chain Slat Conveyor may be equipped to run utilities such as air, dry air, natural gas, acetylene, and nitrogen for the full length of the conveyors system. Where applicable, fast disconnect couplings are provided for connection of air tools and other devices.
By routing the utilities internal to the conveyor system, free access for operator personnel is maintained. The design of the conveyor is such that work stations may be relocated at a future date without requiring modification to the basic slat conveyor design, again providing added flexibility and making an SSI conveyor a performing investment.
SSI No. SSR-183 Roller Chain - 3" Pitch (Normal Duty)
Slat Conveyors are frequently used for assembly lines, packing lines and wherever a moving platform is desired to perform product operations.
SSI’s 3" pitch slat conveyors are both economical, strong in design, and offer flexibility to meet varying operating conditions. While the drawings below show an in-line slat, elevation differences may easily be obtained with slat conveyors by inserting vertical curves in the track section.
SSI No. SSR-194 Roller Chain - 4" Pitch (Medium Duty)
The basic design of all Roller Chain Slat Conveyors is similar. The chain size is varied to compensate for chain pull and product loading. SSR-194 Roller Chain Conveyors are classified as medium duty and suit many applications as a standard unit. When changes in elevation are desired, vertical curves may be inserted in the slat conveyor.
SSI No. SSR-196 Roller Chain - 6" Pitch (Heavy Duty)
For unit loads in excess of 1,000 lbs., and for long conveyor systems, the SSI extra heavy-duty 6" pitch chain is utilized. Chain pulls in the area of 5,000 lbs. are normal. This heavy-duty conveyor may be equipped with safety side skirts and other guarding to protect operating personnel and also to meet individual applications.
